Missed the Apple Event yesterday? Here’s a rundown of every new product that was announced along with all you need to know…
First up came the announcement of a newly revamped Apple TV streaming service which will feature a redesigned operating system called tvOS. The new service will also come loaded with Siri which will allow you to make specific requests such as “show me the Modern Family episode with Edward Norton in it.” Not only that, but you’ll also be able to fast forward or rewind a specific scene simply by asking Siri to do so. The Apple TV will be available in 32gb and 64gb models with a starting price between €150-200.
Next up was the much-rumoured iPad Pro, a new large iPad featuring a 12.9 inch retina display that will be specifically targeted at business users. The iPad Pro will come with a four speaker audio system, an 8MP iSight camera and 10 hours of battery life. An accompanying stylus called the Apple Pencil was also launched. The iPad Pro will be available in three colours: silver, gold, and space gray and will cost between €800-€1,100.
iPhone 6S and 6S Plus
Finally came the much-anticipated announcement of the iPhone 6S/6S Plus, two new upgraded iPhone models. The new phones have the same screen size as current iPhone 6 models but feature a new screen control system called 3D touch’. Similar to force touch on the Apple Watch, 3D touch will allow users to access different functions depending on how much touch pressure is being applied to the screen. The new iPhones will also have an improved 12 MP camera as well as a 5MP front-facing camera dubbed the ‘selfie camera’. The cameras will come with 4K video resolution and a feature called ‘live photos’ which captures 3 seconds of audio recording and video footage each time a photo is taken. With a 64-bit processor, the new iPhones are expected to be 70 per cent faster than previous iPhones and they’re also made from tougher metal to avoid any future ‘bendgates’. That’s not all as the iPhone will now also be available in a brand new colour: rose gold. Prices for the iPhone 6S start at €700 while the iPhone 6S Plus will cost up from €800.
Now we don’t know about you, but new iPhones and iPads aside, what we really would have liked to see is something to address the charger problem. Maybe next year?
