Imagine if your headphones could read your mind. The stuff fiction is made of, you might say.
Well, yes once upon a time, maybe but we’re in an age where fiction is fast becoming fact and headphones that listen to what’s going on in your head, rather than the other way around, are just another example of make-believe becoming reality.
Showcased at this year’s South by South West Conference in Austin, Texas recently, were such headphones, developed by Neurowear.
Apparently, they play music which is best suited to your current mood.
Called Mico, the headphones detect your brainwaves to determine if you’re angry, happy or sad. It then plays songs to match that mood through its iPhone app.
As the music plays away, the side of these fairly bulky headphones indicate what type of mood you’re in – a good way to spot and avoid the crankies!
This mind-reading piece of kit is still in the prototype phase, so we’ve got a bit of a wait until they hit the market.
